Celebrating the 4th of July!!

Good morning and thanks for taking a few minutes to stop by my blog.  Today I am over creating and stampin' for Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration.  We are sharing projects to celebrate the 4th of July.

I don't create to many cards for this special day, but try to keep in mind that somewhere there is someone who celebrates and shares this special day for the USA with their Birthday.  This card is for all of you who do.  I used colors of cherry cobbler, whisper white and night of navy.  I love how the gold twine adds such a lovely detail to the stripes and makes them pop.

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ cherry cobbler, whisper white, night of navy
Ink ~ night of navy, crumb cake for some distressing
Stamp set ~ Be a Star
Misc. ~ star framelit set, mini star punch, star embossing folder, gold bakers twine, night of navy blendabilities, basic rhinestones

I hope you have enjoyed my 4th of July celebration card.  Leave some "love" and go visit our other design team members to get inkspired.

Celebrating the USA with a Star!

Good morning!  Its Friday, Friday, Friday and its 4th of July, so Happy Birthday USA!!  Today I am over at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration and we are sharing projects to help celebrate this special day!  Like many, I will be celebrating with yummy food, visiting with family and friends and ending the day with some nighttime fireworks!!

My card today is a special 3-D Triangle Star Card.  A little tricky yes, but the end results was so worth it.  My inspiration came from a card I saw in Pinterest.  Click HERE for directions.  I will admit, they were a little difficult to follow and I just had to wing it, but it turned out a ok!

I don't really have any patriotic DSP, so I used the closest I had, Martime.  The coastal cabana sheet is perfect with the little stars.  I also used real red and night of navy.

On the inside, I used stamped in night of navy the smallest star in the Be a Star stamp set and cut them out using the matching star framelit set.

The outside has a simple star in real red with a night of navy one behind it.  I stamped "happy birthday" in coastal cabana and cut it out with a banner tail on each end and layered on top the star.  Some added bling, and my 4th of July celebration card is done.

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ real red, night of navy, whisper white
Ink ~ night of navy, real red, coastal cabana
DSP ~ martime
Stamp sets~ be a star, and many more
Misc. ~ star framelits, basic rhinestones, banner punch

I hope you have enjoyed my triangle star card and it INKspires you to go create your own version.  Don't forget to leave some "love" and go visit our main blog to see what the other design team members have created!!

Still "NO" Pinwheel Wreath for Me?!?

Good morning and thanks for joining me here today with Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration.  Today we are sharing cute projects made using "pinwheels".  I will have to tell ya, that even though I've created things with pinwheels before, it has been so much more fun since the June My Paper Pumpkin kit got delivered to my door step.

One of the things I have been wanting to make for my front door was one of these cute clothes pin wreaths.  When I made my last weekly trip to old Wally World, aka (Walmart), its what we people in the South call it!!....I picked myself up a pack of wooden clothespins.  Since I wanted a red, white and blue look since it was for the 4th of July and I didn't have any other DSP that would work, I used the new Martitime DSP.  Boy was that a long run on sentence!!  It worked perfectly, cause it has real red, night of navy and even stars.

I created the three pinwheels from the my paper pumpkin it and attached them to the straws that even come in the kit too, and hot glued them to the side of my wreath.  I also cut out some silver sparkle stars using the new stars framelit set.

So why do I say, "Still NO wreath for my door?"  Well I went to go visit my parents this weekend.  My nephew is getting ready to be deployed out with the Air Force and he surprised my parents with a last visit before he leaves.  We were all there for some family time and a nice relaxing cookout.  Well now back to the subject...the wreath....well I didn't know that my Mom has also been wanting one of these styled wreaths and well I caved in and sold it to her!!!  Luckily for me, the Paper Pumpkin kit came with 24 pinwheels and extra supplies that I have plenty left after all the other projects I've made (details and pics some soon!!) I can easily make myself another tonight.  I guess I just need to go back to Wally World and get another pack of clothespins, haha!!!

Supplies Used
DSP ~ Martitime
Misc. ~ silver glitter paper, star framelit set, June My Paper Pumpkin kit, hot glue gun, wooden clothespins

Whats Red, White and Blue all Over? PP199

Good morning! Its Friday, Friday, Friday!  Now that's just one word I never get tired of hearing!!  I have a pretty laid back weekend ahead, thank goodness.  My normal run early, get groceries, do little cleaning and play, play, play!!  Sunday is Father's Day, we I'll take a long run early, then get ready to take my husband out for breakfast (his choice), then we have to take my son over to Luray for the week.  He is staying with my parents to help take care of my sisters dogs while she is on vacation!

Todays card is for the color challenge over at The Paper Players.  I almost forgot that I wanted to play along, thank goodness they send out a reminder to play along.  So I finally got my hands on the Work of Art stamp set (it had been on back order for a short while), but not worries, I had plenty of other new toys to keep me busy with, like the new stars framelit set.  Which is what I used to create these awesome layered stars on my card.

I started out with a crumb cake card base and stamped it with the zig zag stamp from the Work of Art set in night of navy.  I then cut and layered with whisper white and real red.  I used the three smallest sizes of stars to cut out in all three colors.  I even sponged around each to help them pop.  The finishing touch is the celebrate on the white banner and the piece of silver bakers twine.  I added a basic rhinestone to the white and red star for some added bling!

On the inside, I cut out three stars and placed them in the corner, leaving plenty of room for that special hand written message.

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ crumb cake, whisper white, real red, night of navy

Happy Memorial Day!

Good morning and Happy Memorial Day!  Today over at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration, we are celebrating Memorial Day.  Today is the day we say "Thank You" to all the men and women who have or currently serve this wonderful country we live in.  Thank you for giving your time away from your family to help keep ours safe!     I'm sure there are many of you have enjoyed this weekend with bar-b-ques and cookout.  My weekend was spend enjoying the quietness and having some free time in my craft room playing with what I love best, "paper/ink/stamps".  I did, enjoy the warm sunny weather Sunday outside laying in the sun, catching some rays and reading a good book!

There are so many fun things about this card I just love.  Is it the banners spread across the bottom, is it the sparkly stars or the way the "USA" stands out with its label layers or even maybe the stripped embossing.  Can't decide?  Me neither, I love all of them!!

When it comes to the patriotic colors of red, white and blue, I think of a weathered and antique flag.  Distressed and colored.  I used my finger daubers and sponged all the edges with early espresso ink.  This to me, gives it an antique feel.  I used the retiring strips embossing folder for my vanilla layer.  The USA is stamped using the notable alphabet letter stamp set, also retiring.

If its one thing you learn about visiting my blog, its that I always like to show what I have done to the inside.  The inside is just as important as the outside.  I embossed on an angle at the top and bottom with the same stripped folder and distress it with ink.  I added a simple layer of banners and topped with one star cut from the silver glitter paper.  I always make sure I leave room for a hand written message.  I don't stamp to many of my insides, cause I think a hand written message is more personal.

 Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ cherry cobbler, night of navy, very vanilla, silver glitter paper
Ink ~ night of navy, early espresso
Stamp Set ~ Notable Alphabet
Misc. ~ silver bakers twine, regal candy dots, apothecary accents framelit set, artisan punch, stripped embossing folder, banner punch

I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day with friends and family.  I also hope you have enjoyed my celebration card for this special day!  Leave some "love", and go check out what the other design team members have created!
