You're A Classic - Masculine Monday at SSINK

Good morning!  Thanks for stopping by to visit me here at Ink a Doodle Creations.  Today I am over at SSINKspiration and its Masculine Monday.  You won't see me play along with this design challenge often, cause...well...I'm just not good at masculine cards.  Its hard when my access to  masculine themed stamp sets are limited.  It makes me put my extra thinking cap on and by the end of the day, with watching 3-4 kids, that can be difficult, but I think you will be proud of the quick and easy card that I came up with.

I love it when DSP can be so detailed that you don't really need any stamping but a sentiment.  One of the reasons I enjoy Typeset DSP, is that it is full of wonderful detailed paper.  Maps, newspaper ads, etc. to make any card a beautiful card.

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ very vanilla, basic black, crumb cake
Ink ~ basic black
DSP ~ typeset
Stamp set ~ petite pairs
Misc. ~ neutral candy dots, banner punch, natural twine, ticket tag punch

Woodsman Valentine #MOJO381 and #HSS203

Good morning, its Friday, Friday, Friday!  Oh what a beautiful day it is too!  One day closer to packing (well I have already done some!) and heading to Florida to attend Stampin' Up!'s Leadership training!  Yesterday I sat down to create a fun card for the sketch at Mojo Monday and combined it with the awesome color challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  Both worked great together for creating a masculine Valentine with the Wood You Be Mine stamp set.  I am so glad I got this cutie.  It is so fun to have a nice masculine stamp set to play around with.

Here are the two challenges, and here is what I created......

Using a piece of the black and white DSP from the stacked with love pack and coloring in the hearts with melon mambo was so fun.  It really makes the woodsman stand out nicely with his matching plaid shirt.

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ whisper white, melon mambo
Ink ~ basic black, black momento tuxedo, melon mambo
Markers/Blendabilities ~ smoky slate, early espresso, skin tones, soft suede
Stamp set ~ wood you be mine
DSP ~ stacked with love
Misc. ~  woodgrain embossing folder, bright candy dots, circle framelit set

May Color Challenge SSInk!!

Good Monday morning, its time for this months color challenge over at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration!  This month we have really mixed up the colors.  I hope you decide to join us and play along, we can't wait to see what you create with our colors.

My color challenge card ends up being a masculine card, (which I get create to many of) but its for my husbands uncle for his birthday this month.  Actually last week, so I'm glad I got it done early and am proud to say, sent out in time!!

I decided to use the Wetlands stamp set.  It's becoming one of my favorites (another one to add to that already long list), cause its perfect for any occasion, for any man.  My favorite element with my card, is the cut and ripped piece of burlap.  Another one of those items on that list!

I never leave out the inside.  Remember, even though its not decorated in detail as much as the outside, its just as important.  I pulled the wheat stamp from the outside and stamped it twice in crumb cake and added a midnight muse cardstock layer for a little extra color.

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ crumb cake, midnight muse, very vanilla, summer starfruit
Ink ~ crumb cake, summer starfruit, midnight muse
Stamp Set ~ Wetlands
Misc. ~ wooden natural buttons, twine, burlap ribbon

Fish'n with Masculine Monday!

Good Monday morning!  I hope everyone had a nice weekend.  The weather here was wonderful for my Park to Park Half Marathon.  Now to get ready for the next one in November.  Today over at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration, it's Masculine Monday.  If you are like me, I struggle sometimes with the right card to create for a guy.  Its either not having the right DSP or the right stamp set.  Well with my card, I lucked out and had both.

My masculine card using regal and neutral colors.  I decided to work with the Venetian Romance DSP pack and the By the Tide stamp set.  Together, they make the perfect masculine card.  I used the background stamp on my window frame shape.  Stamped, colored and cut out the fish.  Before attaching the fish with a foam dot, I wrapped the framelit layers with some twine.  I add some bling (yes, even a masculine card needs some kind of bling!), just a soft suede candy dot in each corner of my dsp layers.

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ soft suede, very vanilla, island indigo
Ink ~ soft suede, island indigo, pistachio pudding
Stamp Sets ~ By the Tide, Itty Bitty Banners
Misc. ~ window frame framelit set, twine, neutral candy dots

Thanks for stopping by!  Don't forget to leave me some "love" and head over to our main blog, to see what the the design team members have created.  I hope we INKspire you to go create too!

One Wicked Birthday with #CTS71

Happy Hump Day!  Yep just two more days after today and its the weekend again!  I know, its terrible that we rush our lives so much thru the week to get to the weekend, but well, they shouldn't have made the weekend so darn fun for someone to look so forward to it coming!!!

I have been been a little bit of a slacker with my challenges I like to play around with this week.  I am getting ready for an all day crop at my house on Saturday and I've been making special treats!  I did find a few minutes to play around with the sketch over at Cas(e) This Sketch!  There was no beating around the bush with this sketch.  I knew right away what I wanted to do.  Don't you love it when that happens?!

This is just the perfect masculine card ever!  Bold guy colors and lots of grunge.  I did use some ribbon for the banner ends, but instead of a bow (which is totally girlie) I just tied a knot.  For my stamp layers, I used Off the Grid and Gorgeous Grudge in colors of island indigo, soft sky and pumpkin pie.

And of course we can't forget the inside.  Kept simple, but I carried the same stamp layers to the inside.  Now all it needs is that hand written birthday message!

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ very vanilla, early espresso, pumpkin pie, island indigo
Ink ~ early espresso, soft sky, pumpkin pie, island indigo
Stamp Sets ~ Off the Grid and Gorgeous Grunge
Misc. ~ early espresso taf. ribbon, banner punch, candy dots, MDS software where I typed and printed my birthday front sentiment

I hope you have enjoyed my wicked birthday card!  Don't forget to leave some "love", I always appreciate and enjoy reading them!

Hello Sailor! w/ FMS130

Have you ever had that moment after you've made a card that you feel proud of yourself?  You know, that moment when you just pull a Tom Cruise and slide across the dusty old hardwood floors in your socks kinda moment?!  Well I am having that moment!!  I always like my cards, but today I am really excited about this one.  WHY you ask?!  Well for starters, I don't even own this DSP pack.  Nope, but what I do have is MDS, a printer w/ ink, and it allowed me to print off the two patterned pieces I wanted to use.  Which brings me to say that I've just created my first Hybrid project!!!  Whoop Whoop!

I was thinking about the sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches all night.  I had even had a dream about it.  In my dream I was creating a nautical themed card.  So first chance I got today, I went to work.

I used three bright mini buttons along the border strip and added some knotted silver twine swirled across the bottom. I used a mixture of a punch and a framelit to create the title for the card.  You can check all the supplies I used at the bottom of this post.

I don't own the hello sailor stamp set either, so I printed out the ship wheel and punched him out with my 1-1/4" circle punch.

I really hope you have enjoyed my take on this sketch as much as I do!  Don't forget to leave some "love" before going to play along yourself!

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ pacific point, whisper white, smoky slate
DSP ~ high tide (MDS)
Stamp Set ~ Hello Sailor (MDS)
Misc. ~ circle punches, label framelit set, artisan punch, bright buttons, silver bakers twine, glue dots

Masculine Monday!!

Good morning and thanks for joining me here with Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration.  Today we are sharing "Masculine" projects!  I will have to admit that this is one of the things that I struggle with.  I guess one of the reasons, is that I really don't have the best stamp sets for a "man", but lets just say, I'm working on that little problem.  I currently have three nice sets on the way, Wink - Wink!!

One of the sets that I do have is "Walk in the Wild" and its a great set.  I stamped him once, and stamped him twice, but the second time, I fussy cut him out and layered him ontop the other slightly off with some foam dots.  I framed him in using the On Frame framelit set,  decorated with some twine and shredded burlap ribbon, topped it off with a wooden (cause every man card has to include wood!) button and my project is done.

Supplies Used
Cardstock colors ~ wild wasabi, smoky slate, midnight muse, pool party, whisper white
Ink ~ wild wasabi, chocolate chip

Again thanks for stopping by, don't forget to leave some "love" before heading over to our main blog to see all the other great manly projects from our design team members.  I hope I have INKspired you to create!

Rev Up the Fun with CTS68 & CTD283

Well I've been at it again!  Today's card is a two for one deal.  Kinda like going to the grocery store and getting a Buy 1 Get 1 for Free!!  Who doesn't love those deals!  The two challenges I decided to play along with are Cas(e) this Sketch and Color Throwdown.  I like it when I can work with a sketch and color challenge together cause you can't have one without the other anyway.  When I saw the color combo, I thought "boy/guy" card for sure.  I immediately went to my stamp shelf and pulled off Rev Up the Fun.  It was the perfect set just for this occasion!

and without further ado....

Not only was it a perfect time to use this stamp set, but it was a perfect time to break out my metal buttons.  Can't have a motorcycle without some chrome!!

I added some banners to the inside as well as another stamped bike.
I hope you have enjoyed my card for today.  Don't forget to leave some "love", you know I enjoy reading your comments.

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ basic gray, whisper white, tangerine tango, pear pizzazz (sub color for certainly celery)
Ink ~ basic gray, tangerine tango (maker)
