Thank You Mom PPA199

So I was sitting on the warm sidewalk, soaking in the warmth from the sun, and browsing thru the newest challenges trying to decide which one to play along with.  I guess the warm sun helped me decide on the sun shiny colors over at Pals Paper Arts.  Below is the colors for us to play along with and I knew what kind of card I wanted to create...a Mother's Day card using flowers!  Nothing is more cheerful than springy flowers and these this combo is perfect!
PPA199_April_10[1]

I wanted a black chalkboard look for my background to help the flowers will pop.  I also used the hexagon hive thinlits die to add a bit of texture.  The flowers are stamped in so saffron and calypso coral on the coordinating color cardstock then cut out using the secret garden framelit set.  I also stamped a flower image from the petite petals set and punched each out in the same colors.  Added each to the center of the flower with a large pearl in the middle.  The leaves are in pear pizzazz and work perfectly behind the flowers.  Right at the very end, with the help of my friend as my decision maker, I decided to add half of a paper doily behind the flowers.

On the inside, I stamped another set of so saffron and calypso coral flowers with one more pear pizzazz leaf.  I always make sure to leave room for my hand written message.

Finishing up my post with a view looking down.
Now I am sure you are wondering why, if this is a mothers day card, that on the front, I don't say "Happy Mother's Day"?  Well its simple, I am saying "Thank You" because I am thankful for all my Mom does to help me when I need her.  Cause isn't that what Mother's Day is about?, saying "Thank You" for just being awesome!!

I hope you have enjoyed my card using this fun color challenge.  Don't forget to leave some "love", you know I "love" the read your comments!

Watercolor Happy!

http://www.ssinkspiration.blogspot.com/2014/03/watercolor-wednesday.html

Good morning and thanks for joining me here today with Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration! Today we are sharing projects that have a theme of "water coloring".  With my project today, I decided to actually watercolor using the Secret Garden stamp set.  Can you believe that in the past when I have done this technique, it has been with a blender pen.  Well, I finally went and bought myself a set of the aqua painters.  I know right...why did I not already own them, and what took me so long??  Well I broke them out and went to town.  Here is what I created!

I wanted my card to have both water coloring with heat embossed details.  I heat embossed each flower on very vanilla cardstock, the swirls on my background layers, one set of leaves as well as the center layer of each flower with gold powder.  This created such sparkly details to the card.  I then used the aqua painter to pull color from the calypso coral ink pad to color each flower.

Thanks for stopping by to see my watercolor project.  Don't forget to leave some "love" before heading over to view the other awesome projects from our design team members at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration.

Birthday Wishes Card Sketch w/ SSInkspiration

Good morning bloggers and welcome to our Monday card sketch challenge with Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration!  I hope everyone had a nice weekend full of fun events and relaxing times...cause isn't that what the weekends are for?!  Today we have a simple sketch to play along with.

This turned into a great sketch for me.  I used colors from my Color Coach of Pool party, crushed curry and old olive.  When I am stuck for color inspiration, I always love to use the Color Coach cause it always helps.  With a tag shape being the main focal point of this sketch, it only made since to use the scalloped tag punch.  I added a layer of burlap with some gold twine and layered some stamped and punched flowers.

I also added a flower with green vine to the inside.

Supplies Used
Stamp Set ~ Flower Shop, Petite Pairs, Secret Garden
Cardstock ~ pool party, very vanilla
Ink ~ crushed curry, old olive, soft suede

Life is Perfect with MOJO335

"Life is Perfect", is the way to describe my day today.  We still have lots of snow and ice here where I live.  Why is that good you say?  Well, I do childcare from my home, our school are closed today cause of still really bad road conditions and therefore kept all but one of my daycare kids home another day...whoop whoop!!  So I have been chill'n with the one and during nap time, was able to get in a little paper crafting time for meself (yes, I ment to say meself!).  Now, "Life is Perfect"!

I haven't played Mojo Monday in a while and decided to try out their sketch for this go around.  It was a fun one to put together!

I cut out the center of a 3-1/4" square of baked brown sugar and embossed it with the woodgrain folder to make it look like a wooden photo frame.  Dressed it up with some Retro Fresh DSP and some Secret Garden flowers and ta-da!...I was done!

I also threaded a so saffron button with the gold bakers twine, tied a bow and centered it on my top flower for a center decoration.

Supplies Used
Cardstock colors ~ tangerine tango, very vanilla, baked brown sugar, coastal cabana
Ink ~ tangerine tango, so saffron

Joseph's Coat Embossing Technique w/ Secret Garden

Good morning and welcome to Stylin' Stampin' Inksspiration.  Today we are sharing projects with embossing.  Rather I am heat embossed or using an embossing folder, it is one of my favorite things to do on a card.  It can take a simple card to the next level just by adding a little embossing.

On my card, I chose to do a little of both.  First I used one of my favorite embossing folders (lattice folder) and embossed the pool party strip.  I think it helped to break up all the solid cardstock, since I wasn't using any DSP on this card.  Second, I did a heat embossing technique called "joseph's coat".  This technique has been around and can be searched out very easily on google, pinterest, splitcoast stampers, etc..  I have done this technique before but on a larger scale image. (see image at the end of this post), but this time I used it on a much smaller scale.  I wanted to highlight just one flower and make it center of attention!

I wanted to make it springy and cheerful, so I used colors of pool party, island indigo and calypso coral.  Added some bakers twine, a clear button and a few layers behind the embossed flower and I'm done.  I am so happy with the way my card turned out, I may just try this technique again very soon.

On the inside, I added a few stamped flowers using the "masking technique".
