A Little Masculine #FM202

Good Friday morning!  Today I am over at The Friday Mashup and Breelin has an awesome sketch for you this week.  We hope you come create with us!

The week's Mash Up! Challenge:
  • Create a project using the "Sketch".
  • Create a project with a "Masculine Theme".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Masculine themed project using the Sketch".

I could not for the life of me figure out what I wanted to create with the sketch, so I kept it to just a masculine theme.  I also decided to play with a new stamp I got last month.  Its perfect for any masculine card.

I hope you have enjoyed my card this week.  Don't forget to leave some "love" and head on over to our main page and see what the other gals created for their challenge card this week.

Father's Day Feathers with MOJO348 & PPA206

Good morning!  Its Friday, Friday, Friday!  Time to get this week over and get this weekend started.  I have such a jam packed weekend its not funny.  First up and early Saturday morning, I am running in a Wounded Warrior 5K (and oh my gosh, is there a nasty, wasty wittle hill-Wish Me Luck!), second I have to head back to across the mountain for a family graduation and celebration party to follow.  Then come Sunday, I need to get groceries, do a little cleaning (I did say "little") and get set up for my stamp club ladies to come over.

Some how or another, I found some free time this evening to create a card for the sketch with MOJO Monday and put it with the color combo challenge over at Pals Paper Arts.  I hope you will enjoy my creation....

At first this sketch stumped me and I didn't know what I wanted to do with it.  At first I thought flowers, but I'm so sick of flowers right now I could.....well you know!?  But then it hit me, "feathers".  I had never created cute little feathers before.  And what better thing to use feathers for, than a Father's Day card creation.  I used the hardwood background stamp on a layer of baked brown sugar, added a side strip of chevron embossed so saffron.  I inked up lightly my paper doily in so saffron and pleated it into a smaller circle for my feathers to "nest" on.  Get that?  Birds of a feather, nest together?!  Yea I know, how lame, but I just had to say it!!  I used a piece of burlap ribbon for my strip across the front.  I was going to use a wooden button with my baked brown sugar twine, but forgot, they retired.  So I whipped out the next best thing...antique brads.  This I think worked out even better.

On the inside, I stamped at an angle the hardwood stamp, and created two more feathers.

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ baked brown sugar, so saffron, pacific point and whisper white
Ink ~ baked brown sugar, so saffron, pacific point
Stamp sets ~ Hardwood, sentiment stamp from the June My Paper Pumpkin Kit
Misc. ~ antique brads, circle framelit, baked brown sugar twine, burlap ribbon, paper doily, chevron embossing folder, natural chevron ribbon

Any of these products I used and more can be purchased HERE!

I hope you have enjoyed my take on both these challenges.  Leave some "love", and go have a wonderful weekend!  Come back Monday morning to see what our design team members have created for our Sketch challenge over at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration.  Maybe you will get INKspired and want to join us with our challenge.

Open Sea June Club Projects

Good morning!  Yep, its that day again.  Its hump day!!  That day when you can let out a breath of relief that the week is half way gown.  I have a busy weekend coming up but I'm still looking forward to it, cause well, its the weekend and who doesn't enjoy the weekend!?  I have a Wounded Warrior 5K I'm running early Saturday morning, followed by a family graduation and get together.  Sunday, I have my stamp club ladies coming over.  Speaking of stamp club....I thought I would share two of the projects we will be creating for our June Club.

We will be creating 2 Father's Day cards along with this cute little treat box.

So just a quick run down, I wanted to girls to be able to use the new in colors for their projects.  This one focus's on lost lagoon, mossy meadow and hello honey.  I took my ink pads of these 3 colors and lightly smeared the ink on after I had stamped the world map in early espresso.  This gives it such as awesome textured look to the cardstock.  Then I stamped the ship on very vanilla, cut it out with a circle framelit and layered it with a window framelit.  The mossy meadow strip across the front is stamped with the round world globe stamp from this set.

On the inside, I stamped the world globe again, smeared some ink and layered it with a stamped compos.

Now this cute little box is created using the scalloped tag punch.  I created measurements so mine would hold a gift card and a few pieces of candy or a pack of gum or mints.  The outside is stamped using The Open Sea stamp set as we used on the card.

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ lost lagoon, mossy meadow, very vanilla
Ink ~ lost lagoon, mossy meadow, hello honey, early espresso
Stamp set ~ The Open Sea, Teeny Tiny Wishes, World Map
Misc. ~ label window framelit set, circle framelit set

I hope you have enjoyed my club projects!  I'm sure my ladies will have a blast this Sunday making them too!!  Leave some "love", and come back tomorrow to see what I've been creating!

Something for Baby a.k.a. Daddy!!

Good morning and thanks for stopping by.  Today over at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration we are sharing projects just for "Father's Day"!  Sometimes it can be tricky to come up with a gift for that special man in your life and give it in a fun and easy way.  Today I am sharing my fun shaker card with matching gift box.

Stampin' Up! is making it so easy for us to give fun and easy gifts with their line of gift bags and boxes.  One of the fun boxes I love that we offer is the Tag a Bag Gift Box.  Its so easy to put together, decorate and I love how you can see through the sleeve as to what's inside.

The box is very simple.  Lets face it, a man doesn't look at how a gift is decorated like a woman, I don't care who you are.  I will look over a package from head to toe before I dive in, my husband barely looks to see who its from before he dives in, but the crafter in me, still must make my packages look cute and awesome! I created in pacific point, a wrap to go around my box.  I cut a second one in the same zig zag DSP and punched each end with the scalloped tag punch.  Its tied together with some gumball green stitched ribbon. My cute little matching tag like the one on my card is hanging from some natural twine.  I added two cute little ties, inserted rolled up tie and my gift packaging is done.  This cute gift box could be used for so many more things other than a tie.  You could place a gift card inside, along with some of his favorite gums and or mints.  Maybe a bag of his favorite candy, or even a small hand tool with maybe a Sears or Lowes gift card.  The possibilities are endless!!

I wanted my card to be a fun card.  So I decided to create a shaker card and use the cute little tie with some punched mini circles and gold sequins to place in the inside.  I just love the June My Paper Pumpkin kit.  Even though I have created all those fun cards from the kit, the fun doesn't stop there.  I can use the ink stamp n' spot and stamp set from the kit to keep creating new projects.  I created my shaker box using the On Film framelit set and a sheet of gumball green coordination cardstock and sanded it down for some added texture.  Gumball green stitched ribbon and gold bakers twine finishes off the shaker box, but the fun doesn't stop there.  I wanted a larger tie to attach to the side.  So I called upon "Old Trusy"!  Old Trusty of course is MDS.  I found the tie shape I needed, cut it out and added some stamped splatter and BAM, my card is complete!

On the inside, I stamped the splattered dots from the gorgeous grunge set and added a couple banners and one tie at the bottom with a few punched circles.

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ whisper white, gumball green coordination paper (retiring), basic gray, pacific point, so saffron
Ink ~ basic gray, so saffron, pacific point, gumball green
Stamp set ~ Something for Baby, June my paper pumpkin kit for sentiment, gorgeous grunge
DSP ~ I am me
Ribbon ~ gumball green stitched in color ribbon (retiring), natural twine, basic gray stitched 1/4" grosgrain ribbon (retiring)
Punches ~ artisan punch, apothecary accents framelit set
Misc. bright/subtle candy dots, tag a bag gift box

All these items and more can be purchased HERE!  For any retiring items, be sure to get these items purchased before its to late.  Ordering deadline is June 4, 2014.
If you don't currently have a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and you would like to have a current catalog, please contact me directly and I would love to send you one!

Again thanks for stopping by.  I hope I have INKspired you to go and create something fun!  Don't forget to leave some "love" and head over to our main site and see what the other design team members have created fun for Father's Day!

Walk in the Wild w/ HSSSC186

Good evening and thanks for stopping by!  Today I'm a little late on my post.  Normally I post in the morning but I didn't get my card finished until early this morning and well, you know how that story goes.....  I want to share with you my card for the fun sketch over Hand Stamped Sentiments.  You have time to play too.  You should head on over and check it out.

So I'm in Father's Day mode and I decided to play around with Walk in the Wild stamp set mixed with a little Truly Grateful, cause I just love the background stamp out of this set.  I stamped several together on my vanilla layer and sponged the sides in soft suede to give a good hardwood appearance.  I just love how sponging the edges of cardstock adds such a difference in the way a card looks when finished.  The DSP banner strips are from retro fresh and I added a burlap strip too.  Now the candy dots, are my favorite.  You wonna know why???  Of course you do!!!  Well you see we only sale candy dots in the 4 different color families of regal, bright, neutral and subtle.  Not in the in colors, but that's ok.  One of the reasons I love my new blendabilities, is because you can color on rhinestones, pearls and candy dots (white/vanilla) and you can make them what color you want and the color won't smear or wipe off.  So of course I colored two vanilla candy dots coastal cabana to match my DSP!!!  Cool ha!?  Yea, I thought so too!!

On the inside, I had a left over piece of the wood background, so I placed it on the side, and added two DSP banners.  It's done and now ready for that hand written message.

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ Tangerine tango, soft suede, very vanilla
Ink ~ soft suede
Stamp sets ~ Walk in the Wild, Truly Grateful, Teeny Tiny Wishes
DSP ~ retro fresh
Misc. ~ neutral candy dots, coastal cabana blendabilities, natural twine, oval framelit set, burlap ribbon

Again thanks visiting my blog!  Don't forget to leave some "love" and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!  Come back Monday, to see what I've been into this weekend!

Happy Father's Day with MOJO347

Good morning and thanks for stopping by to check out my Father's Day card.  Its my project card for this weeks MOJO Monday sketch challenge.  This weeks sketch is something a little different than your normal A2 sized card.  This week you are to create a skinny card.  It plays with your mind a little because of resizing things when you are used to layers sized for an A2 (4-1/4" x 5-1/2") card.

Some I gearing up and getting ready for Father's Day, so make sure you check back in all this week, because I will be posting and giving a lot of ideas for Father's Day cards and projects.

So if you are like me, some times creating a masculine card can be a little tricky.  Its so easy to create a cute card for a lady.  Just add some bling and bow and its perfect.  Well not to many men I know, love getting a card with bling and a bow!  This card does have both bling and a bow, buts I think its done in a manly sort of way!!  I used the Wetlands stamp set.  One of my favorite sets to turn too when creating a card for a man.  Its so in touch with natural and the outdoors.  My background layer of vanilla is sponged a little with soft suede ink to help it stand out.  I used my woodgrain embossing folder on the soft suede layer for my main background.  I also threw in a little Venetain Romance DSP for some blue color.  To match the island indigo color in the DSP, I added some regal candy dots to the upper corner of the card and one at the bottom (there's my bling!)

As always if you follow my blog at all, you know that I like to decorate and share the inside.  Decorating the outside can be easy, but some forget all about the inside and its the most important part of the card.  Its where you take the time to handwrite that special message to your friend or loved one.  To me, a handwritten message is very important!  I stamped a few of the wheat in soft suede and pistachio pudding and created a simple banner across the bottom, leaving plenty of room for writing.

Back to the outside.  We talked about bling and bows...well, yes I added a bow, but its very simple and really doesn't even look like a bow at all.  I used the natural twine and twisted it around a few times and attached it with a blue dot underneath my wooden button.  I also created a banner with the natural trim ribbon across the front.

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ very vanilla, soft suede, pistachio pudding
Ink ~ soft suede
DSP ~ venetian romance
Stamp Set ~ wetlands, teeny tiny wishes
Misc. ~ word window punch, natural twine, natural trim ribbon, scalloped border punch, woodgrain embossing folder, regal candy dots, deco labels framelit set, naturals designer buttons.

All these items and more can be purchased HERE!

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have enjoyed my take on the sketch below.  Don't forget to leave some "love, and go play along too!

Triangle Fun with PPA203 & MOJO345

Good morning and thanks for stopping by.  I have been a busy little happy stamper the past few days.  Not only did I have a lot of uninterrupted time in my craft room on Mother's Day to play with my paper and ink, but I also had some free time on Monday to create too!  Today's card is for the color challenge over at Pals Paper Arts and the sketch is for Mojo Monday.

I already in full force for getting a jump start on Father's Day cards.  I know my sisters will be hitting me up shortly to see what I have made up and I want to be prepared!  The sketch called for 4 layered circles but I swapped them out for 4 layered triangles.  I cut out the triangles on my own and embossed them with the arrow folder.  The colors of night of navy and cajun craze worked perfect for a masculine looking father's day card don't you think?  I then stamped and punched out 4 small triangles using the geometrical stamp set.  I also for fun added a candy dot in matching color to each small triangle.  I used the gorgeous grunge  stamp set to add a background behind the large embossed triangles.  For the left side of the card, I used the gold bakers twine to tie around.

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ very vanilla, night of navy and cajun craze
Ink ~ cajun craze, night of navy
Stamp sets ~ gorgeous grunge, geometrical, teeny tiny wishes
Misc. ~ triangle punch, gold bakers twine, regal candy dots, arrow embossing folder

I hope you have enjoyed my take on the color and sketch challenge.  Don't forget to leave some "love", as I always enjoy reading your comments on what I create!

PPC #61 and Whimsical Wednesday #10

THIS CARD WON AS A RUNNER-UP AT PPC!!!!  WHOOOO HOOOOO!!
Good day bloggers!  I am leaving to go out of town this weekend for my nephews high school graduation!  So I wanted to try and get a couple of challenges in while trying to pack.  This card is for my Dad for Fathers Day, so it worked out perfect that this weeks challenge over at http://whimsicalwednesdays.blogspot.com/ is to make something for "Father's Day".  It is also for http://www.ppc-challenges.blogspot.com/ for the use of colors, which are "SU! cajun craze, always artichoke and certainly celery."  I used the scalloped oval punch on the front to highlight the sentiment of "Happy Father's Day".  The ribbon is always artichoke 1/4" grosgrain, topped off with mini copper colored brads.  I hand cut out the little spatula and glued it to the little insert that slides out to read, "King of the Grill" cause that is the SU! stamp set that it came from.
My Dad loves two things, #1 to eat at buffet resturants and #2 Wood Grill Resturant, so I thought it best to just slide him in a gift card to go eat there!

Father's Day Tool Belt Card

Ok, I must say this is just tooo stinking cute!  The idea came from non other than Vilita, go check her out at http://valitasfreshfolds.blogspot.com/.  I am in the process of making some Father's Day cards and wanted to try something a little different.  I used SU! early expresso.  I don't have any tool stamps or stickers, so I traced the tools from the current SU! catalog and made my own.  I inked all around the pouches and card with black to make it look worn and dirty.  (Just like a man!!)
On the inside I typed up the saying, "Though a single day is set aside, the thankfulness is year round."
There is a pocket on the inside so that you can slide in a special gift card of dear old Dad!  Maybe so he can go and buy some more tools - as if he needs anymore!!

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

This is my first card posted to my blog. I am still learning how to add things to my site. This is a Father's Day card that I made for my Dad. I used the oak tree stamp from the Lovely as a Tree set from Stampin Up! I also heat embossed it in metalic black to make it stand out. Hope you enjoy!
