Thinking of You - Touch of Ink

Good afternoon stampin peeps!  Hope everyone is doing well as we are in the tail end of the week and the wonderful weekend is fast approaching us!  I had a co-worker reach out to me to create a card for a fellow co-worker that had a small surgery and wanted to cheer her up and send her well wishes.

I created this card to measure 4-1/4" x 9" to allow for more room inside for well wishes and signatures for others.  I will have to admit, I like this size of card for a nice change.

I pulled out and used for the first time (I know, I am so bad, lol!) the stamp set called Touch of Ink.  It was a special free stamp set that could be earned with a $50 purchase the other year.  I just love the pretty humminging bird.  It colors so well with my alcohol blendabilities.

Hope you enjoyed my card creation for today, don't forget to share some love!

Stampin' Up Supplies Used:
Stamp set:  Touch of Ink
Paper: whisper white and sift succulent
Ink:  momento black ink
Blenders:  soft succulent, smokey slate, petal pink, daffodil delight
Misc:  basic gemstones, white twine

Stamp set ~ regarding dahlias
Misc. ~ basic pearls, pink pirouette chevron ribbon, aqua painter

Pinterest Inspired!!

Good morning and thanks for stopping by here at Ink a Doodle Creations.  Today I am over at SSINKspiration and we are sharing projects inspired by Pinterest.  You know that place online we all just can't get enough of.  From Recipes, to color combos, to card sketches and home decorating ideas, one can find just about anything on Pinterest.  Its such an inspiring one stop shop.  As I was browsing and looking for something to pop out at me, I was a little hungry and look what caught my eye?!  YEPPER, cake with sprinkes!!!

So with cake and the fun colored sprinkles it made me think of cupcakes and one of the all new stamp sets in the upcoming Stampin' Up! catalog coming June 2, "Sprinkles of Life".

I am in love with cupcakes anyway, but now I can create fun ones, with any colored frosting and toppings, but without the calories!!!

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ whisper white, vellum, cucumber crush
DSP ~ cherry on top stack
Stamp set ~ sprinkles of life
Punches ~ new triple banner punch, tree builder punch, corner rounder
Misc. ~ basic rhinestones, cherry on top washi tape, lots of dots embossing folder

Now leave some "love" and head on over to see what inspired our other designers!!

A Little Bit Old & New - SSINK Blog Hop!

Good morning!  Thanks for joining me here at Ink a Doodle Creations.  Today I am over at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration and we are celebrating our first Blog Hop!!  We are sharing projects using something OLD and something NEW!  I hope you will take a few minutes and come visit all of our design team members to see what projects they have created.

As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number #5 on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog Hop - Donna S. of Organized Chaos . If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn't work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

Its fun to look back over the years of my stamping career and look at all the many different stamp sets I've had.  Some I've used a lot and some not so many times.  I could have gone back and pulled out one that was really old, but the one I chose to use, is for me, one that I will continue to use for a long time, cause mason jars will always be around.  Rather in stamping, drinking from (if you are a Southern and like your sweet tea) or just for decorating with or canning in.  Mason jars will forever be popular.

For my something OLD, I chose to use the retired Perfectly Preserved bundle.  I just love the cute little mason jar.  For my something NEW, I went with Papillon Potpourri.  The cute butterflies coming out of the jar is so cheerful!  I accented the front by embossing my crumb cake with the woodgrain folder and added some cut burlap and rich razzleberry cotton ribbon.

I think my favorite part is the natural twine wrapped around the jar lid and finished off with a cute melon mambo button.

I hope you have enjoyed my blog hop project!  Leave some "love", and head over to stop #7 with Kim R. of Stamping with Kim.  I just know you will love her creation!

Masculine Monday!!

Good morning and thanks for joining me here with Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration.  Today we are sharing "Masculine" projects!  I will have to admit that this is one of the things that I struggle with.  I guess one of the reasons, is that I really don't have the best stamp sets for a "man", but lets just say, I'm working on that little problem.  I currently have three nice sets on the way, Wink - Wink!!

One of the sets that I do have is "Walk in the Wild" and its a great set.  I stamped him once, and stamped him twice, but the second time, I fussy cut him out and layered him ontop the other slightly off with some foam dots.  I framed him in using the On Frame framelit set,  decorated with some twine and shredded burlap ribbon, topped it off with a wooden (cause every man card has to include wood!) button and my project is done.

Supplies Used
Cardstock colors ~ wild wasabi, smoky slate, midnight muse, pool party, whisper white
Ink ~ wild wasabi, chocolate chip

Again thanks for stopping by, don't forget to leave some "love" before heading over to our main blog to see all the other great manly projects from our design team members.  I hope I have INKspired you to create!

Gettin' Springy with It - FMS127 and PP187

Good morning!  I had so much fun making one project challenge card yesterday, I decided to create another!  I guess all the cleaning I did worked up a healthy appetite for stamping!!

This card is for two challenges in one, The Paper Players with their Spring and Clean challenge and Freshly Made Sketches with their cute and simple sketch.  Remember, Make 1 Get 1 for FREE!  I love the challenge of combining two into one.  It makes me really put my thinking cap on...along with a good cup of coffee and I'm set!  Wink Wink!!

I purchased the new hexagon hive framelit and wanted to put it to use.  I cut one out in white as a simple layer ontop of my DSP.  My favorite element on this card is the ribbon with the button in the center.  I just love how ribbon can make a card pop with excitement!!

The inside was kept simple with a DSP banner and a used some of the hexagons from the framelit and placed them along the side.

Supplies Used
Cardstock ~ island indigo, whisper white, melon mambo
Ink ~ island indigo

Thanks for stopping by, don't forget to leave some "love", as I always appreciate your comments and enjoy reading each and every one.

Thanks for joining me here at the Blog Hop today.  I am happy to be sharing a card using one my my favorite flower stamp sets.  I made it for my friend Breelin, she was feeling a little under the weather and I thought this might cheer her up!

I love this set is because its simple but pretty when colored.  One of the elements I enjoy making for a card is a banner, but like for most people, they can be tricky to make.  trying to get the two points even can well...be a pain in the you know where!?!  I am in "love" with the new banner framelit set.  It makes for a quick and perfect banner cut out.   I used it to cut out the white layer that I stamped with one of my favorite flower sets right now, Peaceful Petals  (which is colored with my blender pen/crisp cantaloupe ink) and the layer in champagne glitter paper.  I also added the same glitter paper as an accent with the sentiment.  I couldn't stop there, with the gold.  I cut a small piece of the new gold sequin trim and tied it on with a piece of the new crisp cantaloupe twine from the Sweet Sorbet accessory pack.  This is part of a special pack that you can earn for FREE when you place a $50 order during Sale-a-Bration, Jan. 28 thru March 31, 2014.

Along with the outside, I pulled off a few of the sequins and scattered them around and attached them with glue dots.  I also added two banners to decorate the inside, cut a piece of the crisp cantaloupe ruffled ribbon and Wa-La...my card is complete!

Supplies Used:
Stamp Set ~  Peaceful Petals
Cardstock ~  whisper white, crisp cantaloupe, champagne glitter paper
Ink ~  smoky slate, black stazon
DSP ~  I Am Me
Misc.~  gold sequin trim, banner framelit set
Punches ~  scalloped oval, med. oval and decorative label

Joseph's Coat Embossing Technique w/ Secret Garden

Good morning and welcome to Stylin' Stampin' Inksspiration.  Today we are sharing projects with embossing.  Rather I am heat embossed or using an embossing folder, it is one of my favorite things to do on a card.  It can take a simple card to the next level just by adding a little embossing.

On my card, I chose to do a little of both.  First I used one of my favorite embossing folders (lattice folder) and embossed the pool party strip.  I think it helped to break up all the solid cardstock, since I wasn't using any DSP on this card.  Second, I did a heat embossing technique called "joseph's coat".  This technique has been around and can be searched out very easily on google, pinterest, splitcoast stampers, etc..  I have done this technique before but on a larger scale image. (see image at the end of this post), but this time I used it on a much smaller scale.  I wanted to highlight just one flower and make it center of attention!

I wanted to make it springy and cheerful, so I used colors of pool party, island indigo and calypso coral.  Added some bakers twine, a clear button and a few layers behind the embossed flower and I'm done.  I am so happy with the way my card turned out, I may just try this technique again very soon.

On the inside, I added a few stamped flowers using the "masking technique".

Supplies Used
Stamp Sets ~ Secret garden, Express yourself
Cardstock ~ island indigo, calypso coral, pool party, whisper white
Ink ~ Island indigo, calypso coral, pool party, black
Misc. ~ island indigo bakers twine, scalloped border punch, basic jewels, crystal buttons

Thanks for stopping by, don't forget to leave some "love" before heading over to see the other design team members projects!  I hope we have INKspired you to go emboss with us!!

Peaceful Petals Occasions Catalog Swap with SSINK

This past month, many of the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration designers participated in an Occasions Catalog Card Swap. Instead of keeping all of these beautiful card samples to ourselves, we wanted to share them with you, too! Today's blog hop will spotlight a handful of Stampin' Up's Occasions Catalog products as each of us who participated chose a different stamp set to showcase.

As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog...and be sure to pin it, too! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number #6 on the SSINK Occasions Catalog Blog Hop – Heidi B. of Stuck on Stampin' . If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn’t work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below. And, be sure to come visit us at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration where we 'INKspire' you 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year!
With my SWAP card, I wanted to do a technique I had never tried before but have seen plenty of examples around online.  Not sure of the technical name, but I call it a "3-D Cutout"!  Basically I stamped my flower on whisper white cardstock, then selected the right sized oval framelit I wanted to use.  I layed the oval framelit on top with the flower sticking out.  With a pencil, I lightly drew a couple pencil marks so I would know where to stop with the cutting out of my flower.  I used my snips and cut out the top part of my flower only.  Then when I ran it thru my big shot, that part of the flower got layed on the outside of the framelit so it didn't get cut.  This leaving me with an oval shape but with my top part of the flower popping out.  Boy I hope that all made since.  Maybe next week, I take some pics and put together a quick tutorial of how to do this.
Up close and personal with my 3-d cutout.  I even broke out my blender pen and did some coloring.  Added a few mini pearls to the center, embossed and layered with some banners, added a sentiment and I was done.  Ready to mail and SWAP with my fellow design team friends!
On the inside, I used one of the other flowers from this same set and went to town with the blender pen again.

Supplies Used
Stamp Set ~ Peaceful petals
Cardstock ~ crumb cake, whisper white, cajun craze and marina mist
Ink ~ stazon black, marina mist, old olive
Misc. ~ basic pearls, oval framelit set, fancy fan embossing folder, circle card thinlits for the label

I hope you have enjoyed my swap card.  Don't forget to leave some "love" before heading to the next stop on our SWAP Tour with Diana E.

Stippled Blossoms with HSS179 and PPA192

Well if you checked out my card in a box post from this morning, you read that yesterday was not a good day, but today has been much better!  I provide childcare in my home and well nap time can sometimes be good and sometimes not so good.  That was the root of yesterday's disaster.  Usually during nap time, I head to my craft room and play around with a card challenge or work on an upcoming project for my stamp club.  Well today went so well, that I was able to knock out not one but two card challenges, yep you heard that right...TWO cards!!!

This card is for Hand Stamped Sentiments! and Pals Paper Arts!  HHS has a great color challenge while PPA has a fun sketch challenge.  You should head over to both and check out the details.

I broke out Stippled Blossoms as my choice of stamp set.  Not sure why I don't use this set more.  It is a really lovely stamp set.  The colors worked perfect for how I wanted my card to look.

I even dressed up the inside with some layered blossoms too.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #100

Wow, everywhere I turn (click today) I see blogs celebrating big numbers!  Another one of my favorite blogs is celebrating their #100 challenge this week.  Hop on over to http://www.tuesdaymorningsketches.blogspot.com/ and check it out.  I hated that I waited until the last minute to get in my creation but I have been trying to prepare for my weeks vacation and try to get my bags and bags packed for 2 kids is no easy task!!

I wanted to use my new SU! On the Grow stamp set and I love it of course!  I used SU! colors of wild wasabi, whisper white, so saffron and cool water (one of the new in colors).  I also used white 3/8" ribbon (I just love this ribbon, it ties such a nice little bow)  Hope you enjoy, let me know what you think!!

Creative-Sketches Anything Goes Challenge!

Good morning bloggers and http://www.creative-sketches.com/ blog followers.  We are back this week with another fabulous challenge.  This week "anything goes"  it means you can do what ever kind of project you would like.  Now is the time to get those creative juices flowing.

I wanted to do something with this card that I don't do much.  I take my brayer and ink it up good.  I then roll on the ink over top of one side of the embossing folder.  I then lay my paper inside and send it thru my cuttlebug.  It makes it turn out like the card above.  The ink is suttle and the embossed image really stands out.  I used my 5 petal punch cut two out and layers them and topped it off with the boho blossom punch in white.  My colors are SU! perfect plum and whisper white.

DCBD #232

Ok, for some reason the true colors are not turing out right with my camera today.  Its cloudy here and its affecting the lighting.  This card is for http://www.divacoffeebreakdesigns.blogspot.com/. I used their colors of poppy parade, not quite navy and sahara sand.  I used the 5 petal punch to make layers and made one large flower for the front and the inside.  Even though I did not enter this one, the sketch was from last weeks mojo monday challenge.  I couldn't just make one for that one.
