Using Up Scraps - August Color Challege with #SSINKCC12

Good Monday morning!  I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!  Today I am over at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration and we are kicking off the first Monday of the month with our Color Challenge.  I hope you will get inkspired by our colors and go create something to share with us.  For those who don't know, Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration is a not only a challenge blog where we have color challenges, card sketches and scrapbook (memory keeping!) page layouts for you to play along with, but we also are a blog where our design team members share inkspiration 5 days a week.  When you go visit our blog today, be sure to get our new badge to display on your own blog!  We want to spread the word about our awesome INkspiring blog and monthly challenges.  We also have created a "winners badge" for the most INKspiring project with each of our challenges.  Go check it out!!  You should go check it out and spread the word, we would love to have you participate in our challenges.  We also have a special surprise being announced next week.  So make sure you keep your eyes out for the announcement!!  Now lets get back to the color challenge.....

So above is our colors to play along with and here is what I came up with.

So I have been going thru my cardstock folders and cleaning out scrap pieces to use them up.  If you know me at all, I am not one to waste cardstock.  I have three simple ways I organize my paper.  Look for my post Wednesday, August 6th, to explain my system.  I like to use as much from one sheet of paper as I can, without wasting any.  I knew I wanted my base color to be crumb cake, and well this color folder really was over whelming with scraps that needed to be used up.  Instead of going for the basic 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" card size, I found 4 pieces of paper that measured a little smaller than that but was still perfect for cards.  after cutting just a little off, these cards measure 4-1/4" x 5".  I also had some BLOOPER SCRAPS!!  What are blooper scraps you ask?!  Well blooper scraps are those scraps I get when I am trying to create a card and I haven't had enough coffee in the system and it gets cut at the wrong measurements.  In this case, I had 4 blooper scraps that I could get my layer of 4" x 4-3/4" out of.

I stamped my flower image from the Boom with Hope Hostess set, used my aqua painter and ink pad of strawberry slush to color my flowers.  I then stamped each layer with the "With Sympathy" stamp in black and added a layer of mossy meadow behind each vanilla piece.  The stems and leaf are also water colored in mossy meadow.  I attached the stamped layer in different locations on the bases and added three punched banners in tempting turquoise at different placements too.  In the upper corners, I added three mini pearls for a little bling!

Now I feel better, that I have used up some scraps and created 4 cute and simple cards.
